2.2 Automatically Collected Information

2.3 Photos, Camera, Barcode, and Search Assistance

If you choose to use optional features that rely on your camera or photo library, we process images and related data only as needed to provide those features:

• Barcode scanning: The app may use your device camera to read product barcodes (such as UPC or EAN). Decoding typically happens on your device. When you use barcode-based search or catalog features, we may send the scanned code (not the raw image) to our backend or partners to retrieve product or listing information.
• Photo-based search and identification (where available): If you submit a photo (from your camera or library), the image may be sent securely to our servers and then to OpenAI (or similar providers we use) to generate text descriptions or structured item details to help you search or pre-fill collection fields. OpenAI processes those images under its own policies as a sub-processor.
• Image-based marketplace search (where available): If you use features that search for similar listings using a photo, the image may be sent to eBay (or other marketplace APIs we integrate) according to eBay's terms and privacy policy.

You control whether to use these features. Do not submit photos you are not comfortable sharing with the services above for processing.

3. How We Use Your Information

We use the information we collect to:

• Provide, maintain, and improve our services
• Process your transactions and manage your account
• Send you notifications, updates, and support communications
• Personalize your experience and provide relevant content
• Analyze usage patterns to improve app functionality
• Detect, prevent, and address technical issues and security threats
• Comply with legal obligations
• When you opt in, process photos and barcodes to power search, identification, and catalog-related features as described in Section 2.3

Your data is stored securely using Firebase, which provides industry-standard security measures including encryption in transit and at rest. We implement appropriate technical and organizational measures to protect your personal information.

However, no method of transmission over the internet or electronic storage is 100% secure. While we strive to use commercially acceptable means to protect your information, we cannot guarantee absolute security.

5. Data Sharing and Disclosure

We do not sell your personal information. We may share your information only in the following circumstances:

• With service providers who assist us in operating our app (e.g., Firebase, analytics providers)
• With OpenAI when you use AI-assisted or photo-based features that require image or text analysis (subject to OpenAI's policies)
• With eBay when you use features that query eBay listings, including text or image-based search, subject to eBay's terms and policies
• With ToyHub or similar catalog partners when you use barcode or figure-data features that depend on their databases
• To comply with legal obligations or respond to lawful requests
• To protect our rights, privacy, safety, or property
• In connection with a business transfer (merger, acquisition, etc.)
• With your explicit consent

You have the right to:

• Access and update your personal information through the app settings
• Delete your account and associated data
• Opt out of certain data collection (e.g., location services, analytics)

7. Children's Privacy

ToyHuntr is not intended for children under the age of 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe we have collected information from a child under 13, please contact us immediately.
